Capture the perfect palm photo

Accurate readings start with a clear photo. These nine guidelines help you capture an image that Palmyst can analyse with confidence.

    Step 1

    Good lighting

Ensure your hand is well-lit with natural daylight or a bright indoor lamp. Even light across the whole palm matters more than brightness alone.

    Step 2

    Flat surface

Place your hand on a non-reflective, contrasting background — a dark desk, a plain cloth — so the lines stand out clearly.

    Step 3

    Steady hand

Hold the camera still to avoid blurry images. Rest your wrist on a surface if you need to.

    Step 4

    Focus on the palm

Tap the centre of the palm on your phone screen before shooting — this forces sharp focus on the lines.

    Step 5

    Capture the whole palm

Include the base of the fingers and the wrist crease in the frame. Missing edges reduce analysis accuracy.

    Step 6

    Remove accessories

Take off rings, bracelets or watches that could obstruct the view of the lines or mounts.

    Step 7

    Angle and orientation

Photograph directly overhead — not at an angle — to avoid distortion of line lengths and mount shapes.

    Step 8

    Use high resolution

Shoot at your phone's highest-quality setting. Detail is what allows reliable pattern recognition.

    Step 9

    Clean hands

Wash off dirt, ink, or any markings that could be mistaken for lines or mounts.
